Whilst we wait for our own building to be fully renovated on Tranent High Street, we gather every Sunday morning at the Ross High Rugby Club to hear from God’s word, and to respond together in worship.
Come and join us from 10:00AM for a tea or coffee to catch up beforehand.
The service starts at 10.30AM and is usually finished between 12:00PM and 12:15PM.

This church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the friend of sinners.
In our gathering we READ the Bible, we listen to PREACHING from the Bible, we SING songs full of Biblical truth, we PRAY in ways shaped by the Bible, and some Sundays we SEE the truth of the Bible pictured in Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We aim for joyful, serious worship that is driven by the Bible, focussed on Jesus, and directed to the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
There’s no dress code. There’s no expectation for you to take part in anything you don’t want to – you’re welcome to just listen and watch what happens.
Children of all ages are welcome in the service. Childcare is available for pre-schoolers.
After the service people normally stick around for a chat over a tea or coffee.
What to expect
SINGING
We normally sing 5 songs in our service. We strive to sing songs that are rich in Biblical truth, with tunes that are singable for the whole congregation, and that help us to joyfully and reverently praise God and encourage one another. We sing a mix of old hymns, new songs, and psalms. Sometimes we sing unaccompanied with just our voices, sometimes we’re accompanied by a piano, sometimes the singing is led by a small group of musicians. The aim is always to encourage the wholehearted singing of the congregation.

PRAYERS
Our services include various prayers with different focusses:
Prayers where we confess our sin to God…
Prayers where we praise God for who he is and thank him for what he’s done…
Prayers where we ask God to help us understand his word…
Prayers where we bring various needs within our church and beyond and ask him for things.

BIBLE READING
We read publicly from both the Old and the New Testament during the service. Usually the Bible reading after the sermon will be from the opposite testament, and be chosen to compliment the sermon text or theme.
Sometimes we also include the corporate reading of an ancient Christian creed, historic confession, or catechism, to help us think more on a particular aspect of the sermon that day.

PREACHING
We believe expositional preaching is the most helpful way to preach the Bible. That just means we start with the text and aim for the main point of the sermon to be the main point of the biblical passage. Our sermon series usually work systematically through a book of the Bible. Most of our sermons are between 25 & 35 minutes in length.

BAPTISM + THE LORD’S SUPPER
We celebrate baptism when someone becomes a Christian. The individual publicly professes their faith in the Lord Jesus, and the congregation affirms their profession to be credible.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper at least once a month during the morning service. Visitors are invited to take the Lord’s Supper with us, if they believe the same gospel and are in good standing in their local church, following the practice of the local church they are a part of regarding Church Membership, Baptism and The Lord’s Supper.

FELLOWSHIP
We try to be intentional with our time together – and enjoy having space in our gatherings to catch up and be an encouragement. We would love for you to come before and stay after the service so we can get to know you better.

CHILDREN
Throughout the history of God’s people, worshipping God has been something all ages gather to do together. We love having children in our services, and we want to help & encourage them to listen & engage. Children’s worksheets, pens & resources are available at the back of the hall to help them participate. They can be collected after the ‘Prayer of Praise and Thanksgiving’.
Families are also welcome to use the creche (newborn through age 4).
Our aim as a whole church family is to partner with parents and carers to show the next generation the way of Christ. In the words of Psalm 78:4: “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”
